Working on a contract
Check the escrow before you start, then deliver.
Do not start work until the escrow is funded. This is the single most important rule on Freelo. An unfunded contract means the client has not paid anything yet and there is no money protecting you.
Checking the escrow
The contract page tells you plainly. "Awaiting client funding" means no money is held — wait. Once funded, the page shows the amount held in escrow and the contract goes Active. That money cannot be pulled back by the client; it can only be released to you, refunded through a dispute, or split by one.
A client has 7 days to fund a new contract. After that it cancels automatically. A polite nudge in the chat is reasonable if it has been sitting.
Delivering
When the work is done, mark the contract delivered. This does not pay you — it notifies the client that it is their turn to review and approve. Attach the actual deliverables in the chat so there is a record of what you handed over and when.
A contract shows as overdue a day after its due date if nothing has been delivered. If you are going to be late, say so in the chat before that happens.
Getting approved
Only the client can release the escrow. If they have gone quiet after delivery, message them. If they refuse to approve work that meets the brief, open a dispute.
