KYC identity verification

What to prepare, why names must match, and what happens if you are rejected.

You cannot apply to any job until your identity is verified. Clients on Freelo are paying strangers in advance, and verification is what makes that reasonable. It is also how we know which bank account to pay.

What to prepare

  • Your NIK — the 16-digit number on your KTP
  • Your legal name exactly as printed on your KTP
  • A photo of your KTP
  • A photo of your bank book (buku tabungan)
  • Your bank, account number, and account holder name

Photos must be JPG, PNG, or WebP, under 10 MB each. Make sure all text is readable — a blurred NIK or account number is the most common reason a submission comes back.

Your legal name and your bank account holder name must match. We pay to a bank account that belongs to the verified person and nobody else — an account in a relative's or friend's name will be rejected.

Verification statuses

StatusWhat it means
UnverifiedNot submitted yet. You cannot apply to jobs.
PendingSubmitted and under review. You still cannot apply.
VerifiedDone. You can apply, and you get a badge on your profile.
RejectedSomething did not check out. Fix it and resubmit.

Rejected — what now

Read the reason given, correct it, and submit again. There is no limit on attempts. Usually it is an unreadable photo, a mistyped NIK, or a name mismatch between the KTP and the bank account.

Once you are verified, your name is locked and cannot be edited. It has to keep matching your KTP and your bank account. If your legal name genuinely changes, contact support.
