Reviewing proposals and hiring

Shortlisting, counter-offering, and what accepting an offer actually does.

Every job has a proposals page. Filter by All, New, or Shortlisted, and open any applicant to read their cover letter, bid, skills, verified-identity badge, and reviews from past Freelo contracts.

What you can do with an applicant

ActionEffect
ChatOpens a private thread. Free, and does not commit you to anything.
ShortlistMarks them as a serious candidate. They can see this.
BidSends a counter-offer at a different amount.
AcceptHires them and creates a contract.
RejectDeclines the application.

Negotiating

Negotiation is turn-based. After you send a counter-offer, the Bid and Accept buttons disappear until the talent responds — you cannot send two offers in a row, and neither can they. This is why an action sometimes vanishes: it is not your turn.

Offer statusMeaning
Offer sentWaiting for the talent to accept or withdraw.
Talent counteredYour turn — accept their number or bid again.
AcceptedA contract has been created.
DeclinedThe offer is dead. You can send a new one.

Accepting an offer creates the contract and automatically rejects every other applicant on that job. Make sure you are done comparing before you accept.
